Kidz Club Program Lead - Bilingual

Summary

Reporting to the Co-ExecutiveDirector: Programs and Operations, the Kidz Club Program Lead works in partnership with staff, volunteers, student leaders, families, and community partners, to achieve the Kidz Club Program goals and the mission of Take the Next Step.

Program Responsibilities 

Kidz Club Program Responsibilities: 

  • Provide overall school year and summer programming that aligns with program goals and strategic vision. 

  • Plan and implement weekly outlines and develop materials for educational and social/emotional engagement.

    • Reading materials / Provide age-appropriate reading materials for each grade level.

    • Writing materials / Encourage regular journaling by students.

    • Math materials / Provide grade level appropriate practice problems, math story problems, and math games. 

  • Build on TTNS’ relationships in the community to build a calendar of presenters that enhance the program outcomes for that day/week. Maintain this programming calendar at least one month in advance.

  • Coordinate and/or lead song and game time as well as educational and social/emotional discussions in large group time

  • Complete monthly report, on time, including good news stories and program outputs and outcomes.

  • Plan and implement annual volunteer training, including volunteer commitment, limitations, code of ethics, trauma informed training, and more.

  • Train and supervise staff and volunteers for weekly programming and activities.

  • Email volunteers weekly during active program times and regularly during “break” to advise of programming activities and opportunities for service. Share good news stories to encourage volunteers.

  • Email / text parents to advise of each week’s programming and activities.

  • Plan and implement quarterly Family Together Nights to bring together students and their families for connection and engagement, especially with the parents.

  • Plan and execute at least three 5th grade field trips, (including  college visit), per school year.

  • If utilizing, make sure the van is available and filled with gas, and ready for the program and field trips.

  • Be available to transport students (TTNS vehicle) from Monroe Covenant Church to various neighborhoods and the children’s homes as needed.

  • Maintain and strengthen partnership with Monroe School District and deliver several key outcomes: 

    • bus transportation is provided for students on all program days.

    • get to know students’ teachers and work with them to conduct pre- and post- surveys. 

    • seek teacher recommendations around reading, writing, and math curriculum and individual student needs

    • stay up to date on common language and curriculum.

    • to continue to find ways of meeting the needs of the children and families with whom we work and serve.

  • Communicate regularly with Family Resource Center staff to connect Kidz Club families to necessary resources and opportunities.

  • Create and deliver a summer program, consisting of 4 days at minimum (one [or more] day(s) per week for one month)

  • Complete the Food Bank order weekly, when needed, and organize stock when it arrives.

  • Oversee and effectively utilize Kidz Club paid student interns.

Student Leader Program Responsibilities:

  • Establish programming for building up the previous student leader program and aligning it with the Kidz Club Program strategy, alongside the Co-Executive Directors. 

  • Provide leadership training and mentoring for student leaders both formally and informally.

  • Encourage Student Leaders in their own faith walk and discipleship.

  • Encourage Student Leaders in their own academic career.

  • Equip SLs to participate in the organization of the 5th grade field trip days throughout the school year. Join in field trips as available and appropriate.

  • Organize multiple student leader activity Team Days to cultivate community, team building and share life experiences.

  • Visit and tour at least one college campus each academic year.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Strong time management that creates a healthy workflow through the week and values good work/life balance

  • Maintain current, up to date parent permission/registration forms for each child.

  • Track and oversee sign in and sign out procedures (Interns or volunteer facilitated) and track student and volunteer attendance. Follow up with families if a student missed two or more program days. 

  • Regularly attend Staff Meetings and contribute program updates and good news stories.

  • Maintain a current First Aid/CPR Certificate 

  • Monthly meetings with the Co-Executive Director for program check-in.

  • Support the integrity and transparency of program’s financial activities. 

  • Receipt of cash or check donations is immediately given to the Co-Executive Director for the deposit.

  • Purchase items for programs and ensure that program purchases are staying within the monthly and annual budget. 

  • Maintain and keep updated Kidz Club/Student Leader contacts in Salesforce.

  • Input case notes as needed to Salesforce.

Community Engagement Responsibilities

  • Volunteer/Mentor at Frank Wagner Elementary School at least 2 hours per week 

  • Attend school lunch once per week.

  • Develop relationships with the students’ teachers at Frank Wagner Elementary

  • Interact and encourage Kidz Club students on Frank Wagner campus and use relationships to meet other students and families.

  • Assist struggling students in their classroom during your school volunteer session.

  • Advocate on Kidz Clubbers’ behalves to school staff when they report difficulties

  • Meet monthly with Co- Executive Director: Programs and Operations, and quarterly with Frank Wagner Principal and staff.

  • Develop friendships and trust with Kidz Club and other neighborhood families.

Basic Requirements

  • Must be authorized to work in the US for any employer.

  • Bi-Lingual in English and Spanish: reading, writing, speaking.

  • Ability to interpret, understand, and follow verbal and written instructions.

  • Ability to clearly write instructions, policies, and procedures as needed. 

  • Ability to operate a desktop or laptop computer

  • Clean Driving Record.

  • Can pass a background check.

  • Be proficient at using email (Google), Microsoft Word and Excel. Have the ability to learn quickly. Manage program and organization files effectively.

  • Strong advocate for children growing up in poverty and/or unhealthy situations.

Benefits

  • 32 hours per week (expectation to increase to 40), full-time, non exempt position

  • Hourly wage ($25.50 - $27.00)

  • Health Insurance coverage: Medical, Dental, Vision with $125 monthly employee contribution. (Dependent coverage available)

  • 2 Floating Holidays (If hired in the first half of the calendar year, 1 otherwise)
